Subjectively speaking, you're as right as anyone else, regardless of their opinion, because beauty is by and large a subjective thing. Objectively speaking, though, the more "average" your looks are, the more you fit the concept of beauty. (Don't confuse average looks with "an average level of? overall beauty"). So, in that sense, her being "plain" greatly contributes to her being regarded as the most beautiful American woman of all time (according to public polls).

To all the people that say Grace speaks in a phony accent, it is NOT a phony accent. Her accent was a New England accent,? a remnant of the English accent heard on our shores when we were an English colony. The New England accent was heard from colonial times, all thru the centuries, until 1945, when it started dying out. I've heard World War II had something to do with it. Remnants remain in our day, like the accent of the Boston upper classes.
